I can't but disagree with you. Though your point of view is interesting, I think that you are underestimating the sense of freedom offered by the Bitcoin and cryptos in general. I do think that people have enough of the meddling of governments in their affairs. The emergence of govcoins is the end of privacy and financial freedom. Once mainstream people are aware of that, they will never accept it as long as they live in democratic countries.

With its e-yuan, China will even more watch its citizen, control its movements and even dictate its decisions. It might be tolerable on the short run but it will definitely implode on the long run.

Some countries tried to ban it (Morroco, Nigeria...), the opposite happened because the citizen don't even trust their own currency.

Will you sacrifice your freedom to be able to use a token backed by the government? And by the way, what is backing the government except yourself?
